25 Tips For Creating Happiness!

As you recall from last weeks article, in order to be happy you first have to believe that you  deserve happiness.  Those who believe that they are not worthy of happiness may subconsciously sabotage their efforts to achieve happiness.

There are two kinds of happiness: Outside Happiness and Inside Happiness.

Outside happiness is being dependent and relying on things outside ourselves to make us happy; via – the perfect relationship, the perfect house, the perfect body and the approval of other people.

In this instance we only feel happy if our wants and desires are being met or something we have longed for is being obtained. While the happiness of such things can be satisfying and pleasing in the beginning, the fact remains that none of these external things last forever because everything is subject to change.

If a person is not content with who they already are within, this kind of event can be devastating once the external conditions change.

Inside happiness on the other hand is empowering and something that is felt deep within our being.

It’s a state of being in which we are never defeated by trials and challenges but instead embrace them as opportunities to grow and evolve.  When we have internal happiness, just being alive is the true source of joy and pleasure.

This is a state of internal peace that persists no matter what is lacking in our life, or what might be happening around us. It’s a deep sense of joy and contentment that cannot be destroyed by any external forces.

  2. Hi Gena,

Happy New Year Gena! It’s been awhile and thought I’d pay a visit. #19 stands out the most for me, which is to be grateful – there is always something to be grateful for. In our own right, we’re all blessed in our own ways. Some have it harder than we do, and instead of focusing on what we don’t have, focus on what we do have. Great all around post!

    • Hello Nate,

Number 19 is one of my favorite ways to create happiness also because there is “always” something to be grateful for.
Once we adopt the “attitude of gratitude” mind-set we immediately set ourselves up for goodness and an internal state of well-being.
I don’t ever let a day slip by me without expressing gratitude for those things both big and small.
Thank you so much for your comment today Nate –
Happy New Year to you and yours!
      Gena 🙂

  3. Great tips for happiness, Gena. I particularly like the one about drinking wine and eating copious amounts of chocolate…oh wait, that’s not quite right is it?! For me, feeling grateful and taking time to appreciate all the things I have in my life add to my happiness level. Once we realise happiness is an inside job, one owned by us, I think it makes it even easier to choose to be happy. Really enjoyed reading your post. Blessings, Andrea
