Friendships Are a True Source of Happiness!

positivepeople1“When we surround ourselves with “positive” energy people – we become a positive energy person.” ~ Gena Livings

Having a strong social support system (friends) is one of the best ways for us to maintain a positive mind-set.

If you want to grow and realize your best self and become more positive, you need to surround yourself with positive nourishing people who will keep you motivated when you are feeling down and give you that extra push when you need it.

True friends can and will improve our lives.

Real friends can be a source of self-esteem, affection, good times and well-being.

Having a friend that you can talk to is one of the most important tools for happiness.

Sometimes there are things that you don’t want to talk to family about.

You need a different perspective, a new take on the problem. A friend can help you see the world differently and open up new options.

True friends don’t judge you. They may not agree with everything you say, but they won’t think less of you if for believing differently.

Differences are what make great friendships! It would be very boring if we all thought alike all the time.

Real friends will be there when you really need them. When you have a monumental problem, a real friend will drop everything and help, because they know you’d do the same for them.

Friends make you laugh. We already know that laughter is wonderful medicine.

Sharing laughs with a friend is the best. It could be years later and a word or look will bring up a shared experience. Inside jokes are always cool.

If you have a true friend, hold on to them. Let them know that you treasure their friendship.

Be there for them and help any way you can. True friends really are a blessing and true source of happiness and well-being.

Each month my good friend Brenda and I get together for a nature hike where we share friendship, fitness, business ideas and fun conversation.

This is what she had to say on Facebook last week about the importance of friendship and the value that it brings to our lives.

brenda“Yesterday, my good friend, Gena Livings drove over an hour to join me for our monthly hike. We love to talk about entrepreneurship, creating, and doing work that impacts and improves the lives of others.

Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been laying the foundation for an all new online training program for customers and was feeling a bit stuck and blocked.

During our hike I was able to flesh out my ideas and thoughts about the online program and then BAM! I became unblocked.

Moral of story….step away from your computer, go outside, connect with nature and talk to a friend. Thanks G!”

  1. Thanks for the reminder that who you surround yourself with rubs off! I will do my best to remember this (support is essential) when I am struggling.

    • Hello D.j.

Surrounding ourselves with people who lift us higher is critical for our well-being. Our need for connection, social support and love is just as fundamental as our need for food, water, and shelter.

      Thank you for commenting today,
      Healthy blessings,

  2. Good post! After moving across country I truly realized how much my friends and support meant to me. It is hard trying to make friends in a new place, but I am trying! I am so thankful for technology that keeps me connected to my long distance friends and for the plane ticket I bought yesterday. 🙂

    • Hi Brandi!
While some communication purists may argue that the Internet is eroding the quality of our communication, putting electronic barriers between us, I think that many of us have greatly benefited from its use as a way to stay connected especially when we move away from family and closefriends.
The Internet and technology have revolutionized the way we stay in touch today. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make new friends that we can personally engage with, it just facilitates a way for us to connect with the ones we love.

Gosh, with iphone’s we can even take walks and Facetime our friends and family. A little exercise is a key element in happy, healthy living! 😉

Thank you for commenting today and many blessings on your relocation.

      Healthy blessings,
      Gena 🙂

  3. Dear Gena,

This is so correct! We are most like the people we spend the most social time with by choice.

I especially love the part about no judgment even if you disagree.

I’ve always said that life would be very boring if we all thought exactly alike all the time.

I enjoy talking to my good friends about topics when we have differing views on it.

And I have to say, I count you as one of my dear friends.

    • Dear Kathy,

I “love” having friends who own their own opinions and viewpoints. Even if we don’t always agree, we are like minded enough to respect each other just as we are! I have so many different types of friends but they are all encouraging and look for the BEST in themselves, in their experiences, in their friendships, in their communities and in their families. I fully respect all my friends and I am so grateful for each and every one of them.

I’m so grateful that your positive light has touched my life Kathy – Your friendship means a great deal to me!

      Healthy blessings,
      Gena 🙂
