Happiness is found within the person you are!

selflove.jpgTrue happiness is within self. Unhappy people are usually unhappy because they have not mastered the ability to be happy within themselves.

The ability to love oneself is the core and foundation of our ability to love others and to love God (The Infinite Intelligence).

Happiness is found within the person you are – you master happiness for yourself, once you master the art of connecting with The Infinite Intelligence.

If your connection is faulty so will be the person you can be – the whole and complete person you were created to become.

When you practice self-love you send a message to the Universe that you are worthy. In fact you are a divine being! Not to love yourself is to deny your own spirit.

Self-love means not only self-acceptance, but making yourself a priority– taking care of yourself every single day.

Loving yourself could be as simple as treating yourself to something special or making proper nutritional choices to ensure your body is being fueled with clean, healthy and disease fighting foods.

But authentic self-love is also about true acceptance and loving of oneself unconditionally…flaws and all.

When you don’t truly accept yourself, your self-esteem and confidence suffer, which in turn has a real effect on both your mental and physical well-being.

Self-love is an act of loving and being happy with whom you are right NOW.  It’s an agreement with yourself to appreciate, validate, accept and support who you are at this very moment.

Once your perception “shifts” from being perfect on the outside to being “healthy” on the inside, you will wake up each day feeling refreshed, renewed and restored in a whole new body and in a whole new frame of mind.

When you no longer look for love outside yourself, you will know that you ARE love, and you will attract love abundantly from near and far.

Becoming a more healthy and happy person is the ultimate goal and path towards a healthy lifestyle.

  1. What a great post and so true.

I started loving and accepting myself lately. Sometimes it helps writing all the good things about oneself.

This goes so well with my word for 2014 BELIEVE/FAITH. I am getting better at it each day.

    • Hello Liliana

      So true! 🙂

Writing down positive statements can definitely enhance our self-image and help us achieve a secure mental attitude and at the same time increase our confidence. When we do this, we find ourselves adopting a more positive attitude, which increases our enjoyment, and ultimately helps improve our daily performance.

I absolutely love your words for 2014 – BELIEVE/FAITH – Both Powerful Affirmations!

Healthy Blessings and Happy New Year!

    • Dear Michelle,

Thank you so much for visiting today!

Taking care of ourselves and being in touch with our own feelings and embracing them is the healthiest thing we can do. As we learn better self-care, we become better people in general. When we are in touch with our own feelings, we can then reach out more effectively to others and show love and empathy to them also. If we are filling our own emotional tanks with self-respect and loving care, we have much more to give to our families, friends, and the world in general.

      Healthy blessings,
      Gena 🙂

  3. Hi Gena. We are love, and once we realise that we naturally and effortlessly attract love into our experience. Brilliant! I have become more self-accepting and loving towards myself and can certainly see a difference in my relationships with others. Whatever emotion we fully embody is what we will experience. I’d much rather experience love than anything else that’s for sure! Great post, thanks Gena. Andrea

    • Hello Andrea,

I love your comment because it’s right on!

When you love yourself deeply and unconditionally for everything you are and aren’t, you attract people who love and accept themselves deeply and unconditionally. If you feel fundamentally unlovable deep down inside, you’ll attract a person who feels the same way.

The types of people that come into our lives are affected by our beliefs. For example, if you like yourself, you will like the people you naturally meet, and they will naturally like you in exchange.

      Healthy blessings with love,
      Gena

  4. Awesome message, Gena!

I particularly connected with your comment, “When you practice self-love you send a message to the Universe that you are worthy.” This is so true. When we love ourselves, we are loving the universe in return.

    Blessings.

    • Hello Penny,
Amen! 🙂 That is exactly right. “When we are loving ourselves we are loving the Universe in return.” The Universe is truly our beloved and vice-versa.

      Gratitude for your comment today!
      Healthy blessings,

  5. This is so true. As women, I find it’s harder for us to give ourselves permission to love and nuture ourselves. I realized you have to take the time and be consciously aware that you are doing something for yourself. I loved how you said when you practice self love you are sending out a message of being self worthy. Very well put the whole post.

    • Dear Celia,
You brought up such an important point.

The message women receive from the larger culture is loud and clear: other people are more important than yourself.

This is a misguided message so I strongly encourage all women to start taking better care of themselves, for one thing, address yourself with kindness. Insist that voice in your head be more positive and encouraging, less critical and hurtful.

Women have to dismiss the notion that others are worthy of kindness and we are not. We need to promote compassion in every aspect of life, and the first place to start is with ourselves.

Thank you so very much for commenting and bringing this forward –
      Healthy blessings,
      Gena

Sending you gratitude for your comment,

  6. I agree with you and think that self-love is the key to happiness. If we are not happy with our self then whom can we be happy with? It’s really a one way street!

    • Hello Rochelle,

Yes 🙂 having self love really is the key to happiness. Having self-love is also very important because ultimately we are the ones responsible for our actions, choices and the outcome of those actions and choices. We cannot give to someone else what we don’t have and likewise we cannot get from someone else what he or she doesn’t have.

Thank you so very much for visiting and commenting today,
      Healthy blessings,

  7. Gena,
You are amazing!. What a powerful post along with great comments from your readers and additional insight. On my journey I learned how important self love is!. I continue to improve but still have more to learn.

“The ability to love oneself is the core and foundation of our ability to love others and to love God (The Infinite Intelligence).”

I really like this quote and realize how true it is and I’m being patient with myself as I am experiencing more and more each day. Taking action and practice is very different for me than just saying the words.

“But authentic self-love is also about true acceptance and loving of oneself unconditionally…flaws and all.”

This quote is great too, it brings memories back of the drawing of the body with the good qualities and not so good. However all is good. I love this lesson.

All is wel. Thank you for sharing.
    Sending you love and light.

    • Dear Bonnie,
Thank you for your comments tonight.. Oh yes, the drawing of the body…. I remember well…

We also talked about this topic in our past discussion on “feeding the wolf” As you may remember –

We have to make it our intention to nourish the “good” wolf (self-love) while being compassionate and accepting of the “bad” wolf because they both exist within us…

Everything that happens in life provides us with an opportunity for growth. The challenge is whether or not we are willing to listen to both wolves to see what lesson they are teaching us “together.”

Anywhere we have “stuff” and negative emotions that are blocking us, this is a prime avenue for Spiritual growth. It is through this growth that every part of ourselves becomes aligned with our spirit and it starts when you open up and receive the gift that is waiting for you.

Just Remember that – No matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.

Indeed, “authentic self-love is about true acceptance and loving of oneself unconditionally…flaws and all.” 🙂

God is good and all is well..

      With love and healthy blessings,
      Gena

  8. Hi Gena,

I agree with you on this. Happiness should be within your true self. Don’t pretend to be someone you are not. People like people who are real and genuine. Thank you for the great post!

  9. Beautiful Gena,
Thank you for your comments, they are so appreciated and inspiring! I will always remember the drawing of the body. I had an immediate feeling of relief, and happiness, that I was normal.

“feeding the wolf” Great reminder, I do remember but I did not remember or equate the “good” wolf as (self-love). I have accepted “most parts” of me,accepting the “bad” wolf inside but I know I can improve and heal more. I believe I am open now to handle what will evolve. I vision a wonderful feeling inside myself. 🙂

The challenge is on! The question whether of what will really be possible, being willing to listen to both wolves to see what lesson they are teaching “together” and understand “WHY” if that is possible.

I am ready to align with spirit, open up and receive the gift that is waiting for me. This sounds so exciting and beautiful instead of being stuck and doing nothing feeling fear which is false and full of limiting beliefs.
Life is good. God is good and all is well.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts. I’m looking forward to your next blog post!

    Healthy blessings always,
    Bonnie
